FIRST OF ALL:

A new set of dentures is a big change, and eating is the test
At first put less food in your mouth, until you find your own level.
If they cause a sore, the golden rule is, if it breaks the skin or causes an ulcer, you must return to the technician for some attention.

PARTIAL DENTURES:

All of the above applies. Inaddition they usually take a few days longer to 'BED IN'. This is because natural teeth move slightly and allow denture to settle. As a rule partial dentures should not be worn in bed.

CLEANING:

Use a brush on off brush off cleaner, using a pure bristle brush. (TOOTHPASTE AND A TOOTHBRUSH) clean your denture over a sink full of water.

The best and safest place to keep to keep your dentures is in your mouth. (BUT IF NOT IN A TUMBLER OF PLAIN WATER)

CAUTION:

Most tablet cleaners contain a large amount of bleach. But are alright if you follow the instructions carefully

KEEPING OLD DENTURES:

Its best to keep one previous set of dentures in case of an emergency. To store dentures give them a good clean and dry them off. Then coat them with a liberal coating of olive oil. Then place them in a clean plastic bag and seal them up. Put them in a safe place and if you go on holiday "DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THEM WITH YOU".

There are many ways you can break your dentures e.g., if you drop them on a tile or concrete floor, or squeeze them in your hand while you are cleaning them, and last but not least keep your dentures out of reach of the dog, he thinks it's a bone.

Properly looked after they should give years of good service.

The recommended life span of a denture is 3-5 years. This is not a guarantee. Any defect due to accidental damage, misuse or neglect and in the case of any alterations or repairs carried out by unauthorised persons. We do not accept any responsibility.

IMPORTANT IF YOU NOTICE ANY ABNORMALITIES DEVELOPING IN THE MOUTH OR STRANGE COLOURING OF THE MOUTH TISSUE. SEEK ADVICE IMMEDIATELY.
