Old Dentures can have a new lease of life. When relined the old denture fits as good as a new denture.

Relining can be done while you wait but more substantial reline which involves stripping the denture of its base material and replacing it, take 24 hours and is a fraction of the cost of a new denture.

This process is not advisable for partial dentures although partial dentures can be tightened in other ways.

Reasons for Relining:-

The gum tissue is constantly shrinking and for this reason it is recommended that you replace your dentures every 3-5 years. As this time span would allow significant change to the gum to take place. However we are all individuals and to give set guide lines, does not work on some cases.

You may find that your denture looses its fit after only 1 or 2 years, especially if you have had extractions in recent years. Your denture still looks good and only the fit is letting them down.

This is when a reline is advisable:

Symptoms:-

Food getting behind your plate

Embarrassing dropping of the upper plate

A reline could save you a lot of money being spent on adhesives.
